Going green in Duluth

construction at Duluth Labor Temple

Drew Smykalski, a member of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 11 employed by A.W. Kuettel, guides copper piping over one of two new boilers being installed in the Duluth Labor Temple.

The unions that own the building hope to see a 30 percent savings in energy by replacing the Labor Temple’s old furnace that dated to the 1940s. “We’re trying to go green on a lot of things that need to be fixed,” said Labor Temple President Jim Stebe.
