Forum on green jobs to be held Wednesday in Hastings

The forum will be held Wednesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Hill-Hastings Library, 1490 South Frontage Road.

Discussion will focus on President Obama’s Federal Reinvestment and Recovery Act and the potential for green jobs in Minnesota. The state’s allocation in the federal stimulus package includes $170 million to weatherize low-income housing, $67 million to promote renewable power sources and energy efficiency, an estimated $73 million for sewage treatment projects and $35 million for clean drinking water.

Speakers at the forum will include Bernie Hesse, United Food and Commercial Workers Local 789; Russell Hess, Laborers District Council of Minnesota; Sheila Williams Ridge, Sierra Club; and Michael Haynes, Environmental Justice Advocates of Minnesota.
