Freedom Library hosting Friedrichs discussion

The East Side Freedom Library in St. Paul is hosting a panel discussion this Thursday on the Friedrichs case, featuring Bill Barry, author of a new book on internal organizing.

The panel discussion will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at the library, 1105 Greenbrier St., St. Paul.

Barry, a labor educator, is author of “Closing Up the Open Shop,” a new book on internal organizing in open shop environments. He will joined by local leaders who will discuss the U.S. Supreme Court case, Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, that could cripple public sector unions.

The event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by SEIU Healthcare MN, AFSCME Council 5, Education Minnesota, St Paul Regional Labor Federation, Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation, MNA, CWA, Teamsters 320, Operating Engineers 49 and MAPE.
