Free orchestra concerts offered around state

The Minnesota Orchestra and Minneapolis Pops Orchestra are presenting free concerts in the next few weeks.

The Minnesota Orchestra will present five free outdoor concerts in the Twin Cities and beyond June 27-30 and July 4. The free concert series, “Symphony for the Cities,” kicks-off Monday, June 27, with a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Lakefront Park Bandshell in Hudson, Wisconsin.

Other performances:

  • Tuesday, June 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake Harriet Bandshell in Minneapolis.
  • Wednesday, June 29, at 8:30 p.m. at the Hilde Performance Center in Plymouth (located behind the City Hall/Public Safety Building complex).
  • Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m. at the Winona Lake Park Bandshell in Winona.

The Orchestra’s final free concert will be Monday, July 4, at 8:30 p.m. at Boom Island Park in Minneapolis. This performance is co-presented by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board as part of its annual “Red, White and Boom” celebration. The annual fireworks display will follow the concert at 10 p.m. along the river.

The Minnesota Orchestra offers these free outdoor performances—featuring classical favorites such as Sousa marches, Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, the music of film composer John Williams and more—as an annual thank-you to the community.

The members of the Minnesota Orchestra are members of the Twin Cities Musicians Union Local 30-73. For more information, visit the Orchestra’s website.
