Educators praise election results

Leaders of Education Minnesota said Tuesday’s election results in districts across the state will benefit children and public education.

Vice President Paul Mueller released the following statement on behalf of Education Minnesota:

“The coalition of parents, neighborhood leaders and educators in St. Paul had a great night; all four of their candidates won. The same cooperation was behind victories in levy campaigns in Owatonna, South Washington County and Rosemount-Eagan-Apple Valley, to name just a few. It shows what can happen when people inside and outside the schools work together for the benefit of their community’s children.

“There’s no better way to get the voice of professional educators heard than to run for a seat at the table. We thank all the current and former educators who decided to run, and we congratulate all those who won Tuesday, including school board candidates in Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan, Bloomington, Richfield, White Bear Lake and Duluth. Your service is appreciated by every educator still working face-to-face with Minnesota students.”

Education Minnesota’s members include teachers and education support professionals in Minnesota’s public school districts, faculty members at Minnesota’s community and technical colleges and University of Minnesota campuses in Duluth and Crookston, retired educators and student teachers.
